How did you meet?:  When I was traveling home from Cabrini College freshman year, I had just got off the R5 and was waiting for my train into NJ when an attractive man came and sat next to me. Usually when a strange man sits next to you at 30th street station when you're by yourself, you go running. However, this guy was quite attractive, we started chatting and I soon realized he was different then any man I've ever met-- our trains came, we went separate ways, but before he left, he gave me his email address. Once we started emailing each other we realized how much we had in common! When he got out of the Navy, he came over to visit me and we've been together ever since! I had found my soul mate at 30th street station!
You've been together:  1-3 years
When you knew it
was meant to be: 		 The second I saw him. Once we got to know one another that's when it was confirmed! We love the same things (except for curry), are hard working and can't get enough of each other!
Tell us about the proposal!:  On 07/17/2008 we were sitting on Ocean City's 38th St. beach. We had just finished dinner and Mark brought a bottle of wine and a blanket for us to sit on to watch the sun set over the horizon. Small problem.... unlike the English coast, the sun doesn't set over the ocean in NJ. So as it was getting darker, and Mark began to realized what was happening, he asked me if I wanted a cupcake for desert, and he pulled out a ceramic cupcake from behind him and asked me to marry him. It was perfect! :) And a bit funny too!
Why do you deserve to win?:  We've been traveling the world to see each other for 3 years. We were going to plan our wedding when I graduated college (12/09), but Mark & my father lost their jobs suddenly. I've been pulling 3 jobs to visit him, save for our wedding, visas, & our life together. Two years ago my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and a brain tumor. It really took a toll on our family. I would love to have this be a special day for her as well. Not only that, it’s my sister's senior year and there are a lot of expenses involved with that, so my family cannot help me pay for our wedding. I would love nothing more then to be able to afford a reception in England as well. Mark and I are both very close to our grandfathers and they are unable to travel abroad. If we win this, we can afford to have a small reception in England! We met in Philadelphia, Philadelphia was founded by English settlers, and my family is a decedent of the founding father, Arthur Middleton; I would LOVE to be able to afford to get married in the city. It's such a beautiful and symbolic location. This would mean the world to us!

jillmiddle Athena... How do you love us if you're voting for someone else 4 days strong? Love is battling 3 years living on the other side of the world from each other while your mom gets a brain tumor and breast cancer, Mark's step dad passed away from cancer and your dad loses his job which means we can't afford to get married until he finds a new job in a recession. We live 3,373 miles away from each other and have been there for one another every step of the way. We love each other very very much, he's my best friend and the best guy I have ever met... That is love.
